Busy Time For The Music Department

Performing Arts Music

With a Midlands Music Festival this weekend for our Junior Choir and Wind Band, another Lunchtime at St John's (Wednesday March 18th), a super Orchestra da Camera workshop with Alex Laing being hosted at Bablake (Sunday March 8th) and our Easter Concert (Tuesday March 31st), there is plenty happening in our Music Department, let alone in the classroom!

Last night saw our GCSE Coursework Concert, and Director of Music Mr Tim Crompton reports: 'It was a great concert with some fantastic solos, for example a notable performance from Albert Jie on piano.

Harry Vincent played a beautiful rendition of 'Misty' on the euphonium, while Ben Smith wowed the audience with his performance of 'The Vagabond' by Vaughan Williams.

I was very proud of the whole group who put on a great show for a small but very appreciative audience.'

We understand there were some super cakes, chocolates and cookies also available after the performance (courtesy of Hannah Calderbank, Beth Carter and Hannah Jewkes), and would ask that the Music department keeps the Bablake paparazzi informed about such extra incentives for future events!
