Bablake Musicians Present A Favourable Impression Again

Co-curricular Music

Bablake Music Department had another wonderful day at the Regional Festival organised by Music for Youth yesterday. The Junior Choir and Wind Band both gave excellent performances on stage at Birmingham Conservatoire's Adrian Boult Hall and despite the early start on a Sunday morning and successful circumnavigation of the Coventry Half Marathon, a wonderful time was had by all.

The department gives a special mention to Aron Sood for accompanying the Junior Choir on piano, and to Anna White and Harry Scott-Burt (Bablake Junior School) for lovely cello obligatos.

The adjudicator was impressed by the Wind Band's phrasing and bright sound, while the Junior Choir drew favourable comments for its diction, tuning and dynamic range as well as much admiration for the trio at the start of 'The Lord is my Shepherd': Ellie Aitchison, Charlotte Bull and Georgie Paterson.

Mrs Cathy Scott-Burt (Head of Enrichment and Outreach co-ordinator) said: 'It was wonderful to see the dedication involved in today's performances; despite road closures for the Half Marathon, we had a great group of pupils at school by 8.30am on a Sunday morning, all keen to give their best performances. I was very proud of the choir, whose programme was really effectively delivered- all from memory- and there was great support from Anna, Aron and Harry accompanying our groups.'
