Bablake Electrician's Head Shave Raises Money For Corley Centre

Co-curricular Charity

Bablake electrician Mr Tony Jones has bravely had his head shaved to raise funds for Corley Centre, a local secondary special school for children with complex social and communication difficulties.

Mr Jones parted with his impressive silver-flecked locks yesterday at the Samantha Jones Hairdressing and Beauty Salon in Coundon. During the haircut, he seemed to move through a range of looks, many resembling a number of vintage entertainers like Russ Abbott, much to the amusement of the salon staff present!

Asked why he had decided to raise money for Corley Centre, Mr Jones said: 'The school has lost funding for transport and I wanted to help cover that gap. One of my grandsons has autism and attends that school. The teachers do a fantastic job there, but a lot of parents need support with transport to allow their children to gain those benefits.'

Headmistress Lisa Batch has already spoken to Mr Jones to thank him both for raising much needed money for her school and for highlighting the funding cuts.

Even before the head shave, Mr Jones had raised almost £300 for Corley Centre and he has hopes that the final figure will be well over £500. We look forward to announcing the final total later this term.
