War Child Week Appeal

Charity Senior School

At the start of the Summer term, from Wednesday 22nd through to Friday 24th April, we will be raising awareness for the War Child charity.

Mrs Maria O'Neill (Charity Coordinator and Head of Spanish) explains: 'There are many children all over the world who have been robbed of their childhood. They have already seen and experienced too much. There is a high chance that they will live in poverty, unless they are given a chance to rebuild their lives and to get the education that every single child deserves.

As part of our Peace and Reconciliation programme, we are holding a War Child Week with the aim of raising awareness and funds to help provide education for children affected by armed conflicts, fighting and violence. According to the War Child Charity, it costs £30 to put a child in school uniform for the whole year. We aim to raise enough to put at least 25 children in school uniform.

As part of our activities, we would like to invite parents, grandparents and friends to join Bablake staff and pupils for a hot drink and cakes on Friday 24th April between 8am and 9.15am in the Main Hall.

For catering purposes, would you please confirm your attendance by emailing me. If you would like to make a cake donation, your donation would be most gratefully received on Thursday 23rd April via the Modern Languages Office or Main Reception.'

We look forward to posting further news about Bablake's involvement in War Child later in the summer.
