'Cabaret'- A View From The Audience

"A group of friends and myself went to see the school's production of  the musical 'Cabaret'. As I had never seen the show or film version and since the cast was entirely Bablake pupils from the 6th Form, I was rather excited.

I had, in fact, auditioned for a part in 'Cabaret' and to see the scene I had been asked to perform was interesting. It was also good to see how it should have sounded at my audition! The acting was amazing and although Bablake is renowned for its drama- we have taken a production to the Edinburgh Fringe 24 years running- I had never seen so much talent on display.

There were fantastic performances from the whole cast, but a special mention must go to Daniel Wye and Hannah Elsy, two extremely talented performers. Also to Alex Hoare, Emily Lewis, Charlotte Rouse, Chris Starkey and Toby Stevens, who gave outstanding performances. With the Kit Kat Klub girls and a few ruffled sailors also on stage, the cast was very strong, better in my opinion than any Hollywood cast!

The show was brilliant, I really enjoyed it. I was pleasantly surprised by the skills of everyone involved, also all the backstage crew. The show was completely convincing: I was very easily transported back to 1930s Berlin, and by the end of the night, I had forgotten all my troubles, as I had been instructed by Miss Sally Bowles and the Emcee.

My thanks go to the whole cast for putting on a superb performance; everyone I have spoken to also loved it! Well done for such a fabulous show!"
