Successful UK One Peace Concert

Archive Archive

One of the final fundraising events held this year was the inaugural UK 'One Peace' concert and art exhibition, in aid of the Los Angeles based m.a.m.a earth, a charity organisation founded by Kailani Bayot, sister of Grammy award winner Bruno Mars. The concert was arranged by charity co-ordinator Mrs Maria O'Neill (Head of Spanish) and L6th pupils Becky Williamson and Beckie Carter.

As well as a stunning display of artwork from Bablake pupils, set up by our Art department, and others such as Rory Dulku's cousin, those who attended were treated to an excellent evening of acoustic music. Well done to Bablake musicians such as Rory Dulku, Beth Dwyer, Megan Evans, Emily Robinson and Dr Toby Smith (Head of Religious Studies) who entertained everyone on the evening.

The second half featured a number of the excellent new wave of young Coventry musicians such as Reece Bahia, The Ellipsis, Emily McGann and The Prophets. Once again, we thank The Complicated String Company for its excellent technical work on the evening.

We also thank Lord Mayor Councillor Hazel Noonan for kindly attending and opening the show. Almost £400 was raised for the charity- an excellent effort at the end of a year which has once again seen Bablake raise over £20k for local, national and international organisations.
